i intend to produce:
a animation to sum up lewis carols life with specific motifs. i will use one main motif (a mirror or a book) which will not move throughout the sequence. the other motifs will flow through the permanent motif.
the content will focus on (identify 3 specific themes, texts, or concepts)
1: hes stubble with self identity
-lost childhood (toys and pocket watch motifs)
-photography, maths and literature career (letters, numbers and cameras motifs)
-smashed mirror (to represent hes sudden dissapearance in the media -ie lost of half he's photography, no more literature being produced
2:links between he's books and he's life
3:though the looking glass -(mirror)
talking with Eleanor about my idea
we decided that the best brief to choose for my idea would be the :-
30 - 60 second sting to advertise a forthcoming documentary programme about your chosen author’s life and works. as my idea and my background research is more focused and based on he's life more than he's literature. i felt this idea would be a good way to intense a audience by revealing elements of he's life and leaving them unexplained.
i was worried about how i would create this animation if i was to use drawn animation, i thought this would be very time consuming considering all the different drawn elements that will be constanting changing/moving. a way to resolve this would be to use dragon frame and make the motifs collage pieces so i could just move them and take pictures each time of the same element instead of drawing them out all over again. also this would mean i could draw one mirror (making it as detailed as i like) and just insert it as a image on after effects and remove the centre, then insert the moving pictures/collage pieces in side the centre.
the only problem with this idea however if the lack of diversity and concept.
to make the concept stronger Eleanor suggested included a reflection of Carroll himself that could possibly fade in and out of the image sequence to make the mirror idea more relevant. she them suggested maybe not making the mirror a constant theme and that It could also fade in and out of the image sequence- i agree and feel this would remind the viewer about the theme of identity instead of it being lost and overwhelmed with the other motifs.
