fewer inks we used- cheaper it is
acuratly use specific colours using spot colours

colour mode of jaguar image - cmyk - mode we use of print

foreground colour-active colour
 go to colour picker-
colour libraries
type in ref number : panton165 (e.g.)

as soon as we apply it it becomes a cmyk colour - so it will be printed with 4 inks

chanel pallet 
the way that colour information is contained, storedin a photoshop file
can be used to save a selation
yellow and cyan - no magenta or black 

cyan meganta and yellow - no black 

all colours - black ties them together. 









represent how this ink would print when layered on-top of each other. 
-can create a additional colour by over lapping colours- so therefore can create shadow areas realistically as to how they would blend in really life. (print) 

changing solidity 


0% will show the overlap of colours so therefore the colour will not be pure unlike what it will be on layers, shows the blends 

chaining it to 100% will turn it into a solid and therefore overpower the other colours becoming a solid like you would expect in layers 



changing the 'tint' of the colours so you keep 2 2 colours but use different shades of it - do this by opacity of 


save as: make sure the spot colours is clicked - tiff file or photoshop file 


when you work with spot chanels- on preview the colours will not display till you open it in a program

windows- colour separations- can see the CMYK different layers of the image
print- output-seperartion (host-based) you can choose which colours you want to print 

very useful for SCREEN PRINT! sperates the colours. great way to prepare positives.
