michael landy

as i was looking at ordinary objects that become noticed and appreciated once captured, Eleanor suggested looking at michael Landy's drawing of the comb with hair in below:

barbie comb - welcome to my world
because this object has been talking out of the environment it was found (probably amount other objects) and had been drawn within a large area of negative space, it had become a focal point and takes on a level of importance, allowing the viewer to appreciate its design and only its design. though hair in a comb is usually seen as quite a horrible thing to look at, the amount of detail the artist has used to describe that the comb was filled with hair gives the comb a narrative,   one which many viewers will be able to relate to - we all have that one comb with hair in.
