i wanted to use a Brown, earthy colour for my stock as I thought this linked well to the idea of evolution and change over time. feel also think it's quite a nostalgic colour. 
experimented with two different colours of Brown paper. working on top with my 2 chosen colours( black-and-white) I found the white stood out best on the darker paper which inevitably, made a stronger image.
