I like the use of tone added to the face- adds more realism, and depth. I have left out the detail on the hand as I think this will detract attention from the tatoo.
Though I think the detail on the face is effective, I think the 2 styles do not go together, making the illustration as a whole look odd.
Experimented with just using block colours. Thinks this makes the tattoo stand out more, yet feel it this method is to to plain and simple.
