taking away line detail and just working with shape.
took sketch into photoshop to add the block colour-thought this was really effective as it makes the illustration clear cut. however i think it is a bit bland.
adding tone- makes illustration look more realistic, yet feel i need to be more experienced on photoshop to make this media look more professional and effective.
- experimenting with line and wash.
- strenghts: allows me to show tone and texture of skin
- weaknesses: watercolour- very 'washy' cant produce hard lines/strong illustrations as well especially when i want the tattoo to be very striking, crisp and strong.
- quite time consuming to build up colours until i achieve tones i am looking for.
- experimentation with qink ink.
- strengths: produces interesting back drops or different shades.
- can use a fountain pen for areas of detail and a brush for areas of wash/block colour.
- weaknesses: found the pen to definite/hard so when i added detail the lines were dark and i couldn't gradient out as well as i wanted.
experimenting with collage.
strenghts: adds texture to the piece. can create background colours easily with cuts of paper. like the effect of layering.
weaknesses: hard to cut out the small details- if i wanted to go ahead with this method, i would have to simplify my image to make the collage look more effective.
