thinking of ways to create/represent the pigeon.

i wanted the pigeons to be very simple, so the detail and attention was on the most important part of the illustrations - the figures, as the book is primarily about them. 

using a block colour:

i liked this idea because you can see a clear outline of a pigeon as the negative space behind provides a clear clean outline to the shape.

however, the shape of the pigeon was not as clear when the pigeon was placed inside the rest of the illustration
