I had recently bought some colour pens which work as blending pens, as I felt I work best with a pen then a paintbrush to add detailed colour. Here I have tried experimenting with them to test out using colour on the figures faces instead of monochrome, i have also carried on with combining with collage.

i found the colours to strong to add detais with- the pen nip was too thick to add small details.
however, i remembered seeing a peers experimental work in my visual language session where she had produced a simple watercolour outline shape of a drawing and then added tracing paper on top(so you can still see watercolour shape underneath) and on-top drew the line detail. i decided to give this idea ago.
i like how the tracing paper has toned down the bold face colours slightly, making them look more blended and more realistic. however i found the pen i used to draw onto the tracing paper with tended to bleed slightly, which meant the details added were not as crisp as i would have liked.
i am really happy with the technique of using collage to form the colour and shape of the clothing and then added the detail ontop, i think this works really well.
as a whole, i think i would need to experiment with altering this technique further to find a method i think would be most effective.
