here i was just playing around with using scrap bits of paper and pencil drawing on top. i wanted to move away from just doing a drawing on a blank piece of paper as this can become repetitive and loose its innovation and individuality.
i like the effect i got from the first experiment of using pencil on paper, though i was only using pencil as a sketching tool, i think the subtler approach was quite effective. however the piece in general is still abit plain, and dull for a final technique (style), so i experimented with adding a subtle amount of colour. i really like that the colour is only placed in certain areas- i feel this creates a focal points to the piece e.g- the faces of the pigeon fanciers.
Taking inspiration from florian Nicole, I decides to use newspaper/ text in combination with a illustration. I like the fact that the illustration flows from one background to another. By using a white pen I tried to recreate the white of the paper on the newspaper which acts as the skin. Though the news paper effect makes the imAge visually interesting I think I would need to use a text material that links to the subject I am illustrating, this would add to the narration of the page.
