i am really struggling to get my head around how and where to start for the animation task we have been set (48-60 frames) as i have never done animation (drawn or stop frame) i dont quite no how it works or what type of drawings i need to produce and the idea of having to draw out 48-60 drawings overwhelmed me slightly!
after talking to eleanor she explained that loop drawings are away of creating animation without drawing similar frames over and over.
i showed her my idea for my animation (below)

| my idea is for the little girl to gradually grow ears and a tail- representing lewis carols imagination. |
though i like this idea, i feel the technique or which i have drawn this in is to detailed and will be to hard and time consuming to create a 48-60 frame animation.
eleanor advised that i could simplify the image by removing the detail from her face and hair to make it easier to repeat. i also could draw the tail/ears separately and add them to repeated outlined drawings of the girl.
though these techniques will make the drawings easier to produce, i dont think they will be as effective without the details in the face.
below i have experimented with the same theme of imagination but have instead used the motif of a rabbit with the idea of the animation changing the rabbit into glasses, ties, clothing - giving it the characteristics of a human .
Techniques: i have really enjoyed working with exaggerated different thicknesses of lines lately, i think this makes the illustrations more interesting and prominent. work like lydon hayes and lucinda rogers use line in a really effective way, creating depth and a strong sense of foreground mid ground and background.

i really like how sarah maycock uses shape to produce a outline. the lack of pen outline on the figure makes the detail on the eye etc more important.

experimenting with creating the shape of the rabbits body with block water-colour - avoiding a outline like sarah maycock.
