staying with the same subject matter of fashion figures i wanted to carry on combining monochrome pen or pencil with coloured collage/ other media as i like the contrast effect.
here i have stayed with the technique of combing monochrome pen with collage paper material. as the collage material is subtle in conduction with the backs of the pen i think the combination works well and does not look randomly put together or that the use of 2 different medias is immediately obvious.
looking at colour wheels
i wanted to use colours which complimented each other, however i also wanted colours that are similar to that of the original image and the eviroment the image was taking in so i decided to make the main colour blue and see what other colours were suggested that were its complimentary .
adding line
i started off with just using line to outline the figure with no tone and filled in areas of back to give the illusion of shadow. though this gives a clean and simplistic quality to the piece i wanted to experiment further.
with a brush pen i adding different width of lines to give the effect of shadow and add depth. i prefer this technique are is adds a extra dimension the piece yet still maintains enough simplicity to not take attention away from the colour.
i have used these colours in the build up of dots to fill in the shape of the bikini.
i am pleased with this technique, i like the combination of lines and circle, i think this adds to the contrast of the 2 parts of the image -black and white drawing outline frame and colourful focal point.
