creating sydney opera house vector and disembling shapes

the last time i played around on illustrator i found that due to my lack of knowledge i kept having accidents when trying to use certain tools and move around objects - such as when selecting whole vectors i would accidentally not selected the whole vector which meant when i moved it i was leaving certain lines behind. though this was annoying at the time as it was not allowing me to create the outcome i wanted, looking back on the experience and thinking about the effect it caused, it made my question weather dissembling the elements of a image/landmark would be effective.

i decided to create a landmark vector and the purposely separate the shapes to see what effect it gave me.

i really liked this effect with the building as it makes the artwork look different yet you can still recognise that the postcard is the sydney harbour bridge.
