i have chosen to use landmarks to represent the countries as i think the technique i want to use (detail lines) will work best with cites because they contain a lot of mine detail.
also i think common landmarks immediately make you think of the country they exists in, therefore this will answer the brief. (that the countries are recognisable fro the postcards.)
