i really like how this artist (Sung) uses shape to communicate a object/bulding and only adds detail to  parts needed to understand what the image is, and to create focal points.
i think this would be really creative technique to use for my animation sequences- i.e dropping ink on to a page to create the shape of the image, and stop motion capturing the colour forming the objects shape, and then using pen to add detail. once it is dry, a way to show how your imagination can create things from simple shapes/marks/smudges.
testing design out in sketch book
christ church where lewis carroll studies and taught.

i firstly created a wash of watercolour into a loose outline, then added the fine line once it was dry. however i dont think the wash i applied is bold enough or shows any definition before adding the pen unlike the contextual reference. also, maybe due the paper i used, the coloured did not come out as bold as i had wanted and the paper tended to crease.
