Proffessor greens auto biolgraphy: lucky by profession
on the recent publication of english rapper, singer song writer professor Greens auto biography, create a stand alone book cover that will visually communicate he's story.
i chose this brief as i enjoy discovering story/facts about a person/issue that are not common knowledge. i hope by visually communicating the unknown aspects of he's life will entice the reader to find out more allowing them to feel closer and share a deeper connection to the rapper they see so regularly in the media. as professor green is a contemporary star and is tech savvy, i hope by networking my possible illustrations for the book cover, it would hopefully get recognition from he's fans and could eventually reach the star himself. giving my work a opportunity to be considered for a re-sale of he's autobiography.

'i swore id never make myself vulnerable again - and i did'
'he did what i hoped he wouldn't'
'writing about it in songs definitley did' (in response to a question about how he delt with he's fathers suicide)

design a range or greeting cards
Design a range of greeting cards
The greetings card industry is a very competitive market. We are constantly looking for ways to stand out from the crowd, whether this be through an exciting card format, interesting use of finishes (emboss, foil, glitter, varnish, gems, googly eyes, printed card attachments, bespoke attachments, buttons etc), or simply stunning designs that stand out from the competition.

Considerations
Think about the sending situation. Why would you be sending them a card? What is the occasion? Birthday card to a friend or to a family relation? Something to say good luck, get well? Congratulations? You’re getting married? Simply ‘I love you’ or ‘I miss you’?
Who is the recipient? At what stage in their lives are they? Single, married, with children, off to college/university, passing their driving test, losing someone close to them?
Remember who you are targeting. Who is going to be actually buying the card for the recipient? Although you need to design a card that targets the recipient, it’s the person who is buying the card we need to impress and convince.
Also please note: Women buy far more cards than men.
- everyday occurancing
Why i chose this brief:
i like the idea of creating illustrations for a positive reason, for a positive occasion or to pass/send a positive feeling. with this brief i feel i can combine aspects from my previous 'unnoticed moments' project, taking unnoticed (unposed) scenes from either a special occasion or a positive time and communicate the moment in a illustration which could be applied onto the card format. by creating cards capturing these moments i hope this will create a feeling of nostalgia and familiarity within customers who see the card.
Tea Brief
The bitter story behind the UK's national drink
Several of Britain's biggest tea brands, including PG Tips, Tetleys and Twinings, have said they will work to improve the tea estates they buy from in India after a BBC investigation found dangerous and degrading living and working conditions.
Brief:
create a editorial piece of illustration that can sit along side and visually communicate the issues raised in an article regarding the degrading and dangerous working and living conditions for tea pickers.
OR
create a campaign that can bring awareness to tea drinkers of the labour tea pickers go through on a daily basis just for our national drink, visually communicate the issues raised in the guardians article regarding the degrading and dangerous working and living conditions for tea pickers.why i chose this brief:
As this is a
current issue i will be able to gain a substantial about of
research and imagery on this topic and it will therefore allow me to
produce a strong piece of visually truthful illustrations. I
enjoy the challenge of conveying a deeper meaning through imagery.
I feel this brief will also allow me to explore with figure
drawing, as it is a social and cultural issue. Working to the format of a
editorial piece I will have to work to the required dimensions so will have to
consider the effectiveness of my design with these restrictions.

Design a personal branding body for local plastering and tilling tradesman Mark Casson.
Brief:
Mark would like a recognizable brand identity that
can be easily adapted to any media business platform he so wishes to create to
promote his business.
He is currently in need of a business card design
(3.5x2 inches) a website banner (Facebook) (19wx7hcm) and a van design.
As these platforms vary in size, the design/logo
must adhere effectively yet still be recognizable as a set and made obvious
that they represent his business.
The design must represent his professionalism,
perfectionist and clean quality.
The imagery used should symbolize his trade.
the colours used need to be minimal to reduce printing
cost (van).
Though mark already has a logo for he's business, he feels it is to simple and not dissimilar to other trade businesses. he wants a design that is contrast to this, distinguishing his business from others.

I have chosen this brief as it will challenge me to
work with specific guidelines /measurements. It is also design focused which
means I will have to consider text as well as imagery. Because it is for
branding, the design I come up with needs to be simple and recognizable. This
in itself is a challenge for my skill set, as I will need to simplify my work
ethic, making sure I do not over complicate illustrations allowing it to be
easily immersed and remembered. Application of the design needs to be
considered throughout my design process, making sure it is as just as effective
on the required platforms as it does on paper/digitally.
